I am excited to have Elizabeth Duncan, mother and Shift, on the blog today to talk about how the wave has changed her life. We talk a little bit about her emotional state, her fears, and what really moves her.
How do you decide if you can trust someone? Experience with others? with this person? First impressions? Intuition? Do you test the person somehow? Or are you just generally disposed to trust or not to trust?
I have to admit that I was taught to not trust people. You let someone gain your trust after time, but you don’t give it away freely. Wish I had remembered that when I met Madison’s father but if I had, I wouldn't have my beautiful daughter.
What do you consider your strengths?
I believe my greatest strength is not giving up. No matter how hard something is I don’t stop until I attain what I’m after.
Have you ever been in love?
I wouldn't call it love. More like convenience. I've never experienced true love before but I pray one day that I’ll find it.
Where do you go when you’re angry?
I typically keep it to myself. I internalize everything. Go inside myself and keep it quiet.
What is your favorite journey?
Well I don’t know if this counts, but I would love to travel the world. One of my big dreams has been to let everything go and venture off on this big journey. Well can’t really do that. I have responsibilities. One of which being my daughter.
Being a bad mother. I must admit I haven’t been good at very many things in my past, but the one thing I will be good at is being a terrific mother to Madison.
What makes you laugh out loud?
Wow, that’s a good question. It’s been so long since I've laughed honestly. I've been so wrapped up with everything lately. I used to laugh at the drop of a hat. A good joke or even the sound of someone else laughing would do it.
Think about your single greatest regret in life. If you never went through it, who would you be?
That’s a good question. My single greatest regret used to be listening to my parents' negativity. I loved them, don’t get me wrong, but they were both stuck in this negative story they had about themselves. I believe it carried over to me and caused me to make some of the decisions I did. I think if it hadn't, I would have just been a better person in general.
What is your special talent?
Before the wave hit I was just an unassuming member of society. I paid my taxes, I went to work, and was a mother. But after, I could do amazing things I could never have imagined.
Bio: Elizabeth Duncan’s life was noting more than ordinary. She had been born to a couple who led ordinary lives. They were mid-level accountants at a firm on the east coast. She went to an ordinary school. She got ordinary grades and had ordinary friends. She was always aware of how plain her life was and desperately wanted to change. She eventually graduated and started working right out of high school. Through a lucky turn of events, she landed a job working for a clothing designer. While she was there, she ended up dating and marrying a co-worker who many other woman where after. Everything seemed like it was going in the right direction. Her ordinary life had all of a sudden become exciting and new. She even found out that she was pregnant. The day she found out the happy news she went to tell her husband, but found him in bed with one of the male models. Soon after, she was divorced and had a newborn to take care of. She named the baby Madison when she was born. The girl grew and developed and was the apple of her mother’s eye. Around the age of ten, Madison began to experience severe headaches. They went to countless doctors and specialists, but to no avail. Finally, after another round of tests, they discovered that Madison had a rare brain tumor and she didn't have long to live. Suddenly, Elizabeth wished for that ordinary life she so often despised. She wanted her and Madison to be just like everyone else: ordinary. Then the Morphiius wave hit and in an instant, her life would never be ordinary again.
